Spreading Andy's message and ample amounts of broad spectrum protection
The Andy Caress Melanoma Foundation attends the Western & Southern tennis tournament in Mason every August, spreading Andy's message and ample amounts of broad spectrum protection to spectators. With the help of over 70 volunteers, manning the booth as well as the sunscreen squad, last year's results were equally stunning. Despite a few cloudy days, the 250,000 tournament goers were supplied with 10 gallons and 48,000 packets of sunscreen. Visitors from the booth were able to share stories and learn more about melanoma prevention. One note from a tennis spectator was as follows:
"My son is 13 and a melanoma cancer survivor. We stopped by the booth last year and will come back to visit this week. He made varsity tennis this year and was greatly inspired by your efforts. Thanks!"
Look for information throughout the summer if you are interested in volunteering as part of the Sunscreen Squad. We truly are sunscreen angels, as people are so thankful for our efforts when they realize they have forgotten sun protection.
